'Pls stop crying, I love u': New mum Kate Ferdinand shares heart wrenching note from stepchildren
Kate Ferdinand has shared an adorable note from her stepchildren who were attempting to console her as she navigates the emotions of coping with new motherhood in lockdown.
The first-time mum, who welcomed a baby boy, Cree, with her husband Rio Ferdinand in December, shared a snapshot of the sweet note, which read ‘Pls stop crying I love u’, that her stepchildren, Lorenz, Tate and Tia, had written to try and console her.
Ferdinand also penned a lengthy Instagram post about how she's been feeling recently, explaining that her anxiety has been “at an all time high”.
“Just when I thought the screaming baby would drown out the sound of my tears, I get this through the door, asif [sic] I wasn’t emotional enough,” the 29-year-old wrote.
“To new mums, mums, step mums... and anyone who is struggling in lockdown, I feel you! Sometimes we just need to sneak in our room and have a little cry... even then, because of lockdown, we may have lots of little ears listening in.”
The former reality TV star went on to explain that a combination of having a new baby, her step children at home and lack of sleep has contributed to her feeling emotional.
“I feel like I’m a robot going through the same routine daily, feed baby, wind baby, wait for him to wake and repeat,” she says.

Though Ferdinand says she knows she is “blessed” to live the life she does and does experience “amazing” moments, she added that she’s often left feeling low and like she can’t escape.
“I’m not sure if this is the after effects of an emergency c section, or the stress of another lockdown - maybe it’s even a mix of both,” she continued in her emotional post.
In an admission that many new mums will relate to, Ferdinand went on to add that she’s feeling anxious and emotional right now and she’s unable to turn to her usual methods for getting her through tough periods.
“All my coping mechanisms I’ve learnt over the years to keep my anxiety at bay I can’t utilise. A workout, a long walk, some alone time,” she explains.
So instead, she’s reminding herself that these feelings will soon pass.

The new mum concluded her post by explaining that though she normally waits until she’s feeling better to share her emotions, she’s decided to discuss it this time as when she previously opened up the messages from her followers made her feel so much better and less alone.
“Now I feel I have a duty to show you the real not so perfect me... here I am sharing how I’m feeling for anyone else feeling the same, I hope how I’m feeling can give you some comfort that you are also not alone,” she signed off.

“New motherhood is SO tough,” one wrote. “Throw in a lockdown and it must be so difficult. Keep talking to those around you and thanks for such an honest post.”
“Sooo glad you are sharing the reality of being a new mum in the middle of a pandemic,” another wrote. “This post will mean so much to so many women going through/and have been through a similar thing. You are amazing! You got this girl.”

Ferdinand recently opened up about her early days of parenting, admitting that she has found some moments “overwhelming”.
The former TOWIE star conducted an Instagram Q&A where she let fans ask her about how she was coping with new motherhood.
After one person asked her how she was feeling, she responded honestly that there had been ups and downs since her son was born.
“I am slowly feeling better each day, it’s a gradual recovery and I’m taking it really easy but it’s good to be seeing little improvements daily,” she responded.
“I’ve always been super emotional. Whatever I’m feeling everyone always knows. I like to wear my heart on my sleeve,” she continued.
“Since giving birth my emotions are still all over the place, I cry often... I feel so happy with our beautiful new addition but often have moments of feeling overwhelmed.
“I don't know whether I'm coming or going most days.”
Cree arrived by emergency C-section and Ferdinand has previously shared photos with fans showing the huge bruises she was left with after the birth.
She went on to thank fans for their support over the raw pictures of her post-birth body.
“I was overwhelmed by all of your comments on my recent picture,” she wrote.
“Sometimes social media can be such a negative place but since sharing this post it has been so positive for me. I was nervous about sharing my reality but so glad I did.
“So many of you have had similar experiences and share the same feelings and emotions. It is nice to know we are not alone.”
