Karl Lagerfeld's final collection for Fendi is shown in Milan
Karl Lagerfeld's final collection for Fendi was shown in Milan today. The designer – who has worked with the brand for over 50 years – was honoured by the fashion house, which paid a heartfelt tribute to the late designer, who passed away on Tuesday.
"The Fendi women's autumn/winter 2019 collection is the final collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld, representing a lifetime of dedication and creation from 1965 until today," the show notes read. "In his perpetual search for beauty and innovation, Karl's commitment to his craft never waned."
Although Lagerfeld is probably known best for his work with Chanel, he actually spent longer at Fendi. The designer joined in 1965, meaning he spent 54 years with the company, whereas he was with Chanel for 36.
It has been reported that Lagerfeld was working hard on the Fendi collection up until his death on Tuesday, giving notes from his bed to the team for today's show.
The house also shared a number of poignant posts onto Instagram, where they paid tribute to him, including a video of the designer talking about his first day on the job.
"A heartfelt tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi's Ready to wear and Couture designer for over five decades," the caption read. "Karl, you will be dearly missed."

Fendi also dedicated the show to the late designer and added that the team was "iimmensely affected by his passing".

The collection was, according to the show notes, about devotion – and the show saw a number of high-profile models take to the catwalk, including Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Adwoa Aboah and Adut Akech.
Lagerfeld's final collection for Chanel is due to be shown during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday 5 March.
