Kanye West reschedules Yeezy show after backlash
Following the news that Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 5 show was being held at the exact same time as another designer’s, it seems that the star is finally listening to criticism.
An official statement from the CFDA president and CEO, Steven Kolb, condemned Kanye’s “bad behaviour”, calling his decision to conflict with Marchesa “disruptive to the whole week and unfair to designers who have secured spots through the formal procedure.”
Unlike previous seasons, Kanye has decided to work with the industry and reschedule his show two hours earlier. It will now be held at 3 pm instead of 5 pm on 15 February.
According to WWD, Kanye personally reached out to Steven Kolb to rectify the situation. “[Kanye] explained that once he realised Marchesa was in the time slot, he immediately looked at alternative options. The CFDA appreciates Kanye’s outreach and effort, and we look forward to working with him far in advance to integrate Yeezy into the schedule in seasons to come.”
Yeezy still doesn’t appear on the official New York Fashion Week calendar this season, suggesting that the star will have to up his organisational skills if he wants to be firmly in the CFDA’s good books.
