JLo and Megan Fox lead the celebrities pushing fashion boundaries at the VMAs 2021
Watch: Red carpet outfits at the VMAs
JLo and Megan Fox led the way with bold style statements at last night's VMA Awards.
Red carpet events are back and it seems the celebrities in attendance are venting 18 months of fashion frustration by pushing the style boundaries as far as possible.
Fresh off the plane from Venice, where JLo made her first official appearance with new/old beau Ben Affleck, the actor and singer showcased yet another show-stopping awards look.
Giving fans a taste of what to expect ahead of her arrival at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards in a post shared to Twitter, JLo shared a series of images of her daring look.
"Let’s go VMAs" Lopez, 52, captioned the photos in which she rocked a black front-tying crop top and a body-skimming silver and black sequin skirt, with peek-a-boo, crossed lace-up detailing.
Later JLo sent the crowd wild as she took the stage to present the very first award of the evening, flashing her famous abs in the stomach-baring crop top by David Koma.
While JLo's incredible outfit, and the fact no one was expecting her appearance, would normally be enough to shut down social media, last night she had some competition from fellow actor Megan Fox who rocked up to the event in the most see-through of sheer dresses.
Sending the internet into overdrive, Fox, 35, arrived with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly, 31, in a nude, sheer Mugler dress that featured pops of shimmering embroidery.
Underneath the delicate fabric the Transformers star's sparkly silver G-string was visible, with the embellishment matching the swirly detailing on the see-through gown.
And while the bust area of the dress remained opaque, just about protecting Fox's modesty, there was no denying this was one sexy outfit.
Kelly added to the impact of Fox's look in a bright red sequin metallic suit - what a style combo!
During a pre-show interview, Kelly said he and Fox like to switch who takes the lead in designing their envelope-pushing looks.
"It's 50/50, this one she took the lead and I get the pleasure of having her on my arm all night," Kelly said, adding, "She's beautiful."
Fox also shared a photo set of the pair in a bathroom to her Instagram with the caption, "Daddy’s gonna win a VMA."

Sheer seemed to be the sartorial style of the night with Ciara and Hailey Baldwin both also opting for see-through numbers.
Baldwin took the stage at the event dressed in a long-sleeved pale purple sheer turtleneck dress, while Ciara donned a flowing floral black gown with long sleeves, which she teamed with simple black underwear.

Opting to step away from sheer, Camila Cabello looked equally attention-grabbing in a pink and red colour pop Alexis Mabille gown with oversized bow.

Kacey Musgraves also demanded all eyes were on her in purple Valentino Haute Couture with matching fluffy hat.
Meanwhile Billie Eilish kept to her own style staple, in a slouchy black dress with pockets that had all the spooky vibes - and that we're totally adopting for our Autumn/winter wardrobe.

She wasn't the only one giving us total Halloween inspiration either, Charlie XCX also donned an LBD, which featured spider-web, lace detailing that would look amazing come October 31st.
The singer also vamped up her beauty look with a bold flicked eyeliner and backcombed hair.
All in all the fashion showing was pretty impressive - and has totally whetted our appetites for tonight's Met gala.
