Duchess of Cambridge dusts off bold red Luisa Spagnoli suit for school assembly

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are busy at work again today, just 24 hours after taking part in marathon training with Prince Harry. This morning, the royal couple arrived to flower-bearing crowds at a north London school.

Kate and William are attending the Place2Be Big Assembly; an event which is being held across many primary schools to mark Children’s Mental Health Week.

It is part of the duo’s (and Prince Harry’s) Heads Together initiative which aims to open up the conversation surrounding mental health.

Kate opted for a bold ensemble, wearing a sleek red skirt suit by Luisa Spagnoli. The outfit, which featured a waist-cinching bow belt, has been seen on the Duchess several times in the past.

She paired the look with a black suede heels and a matching clutch. Her hair was blow dried to its usual perfection and left down.

Kate first wore the suit during the couple’s royal tour of New Zealand way back in 2014. She chose extremely similar accessories and kept the design’s original belt.

During the assembly, the royals presented a pupil with the first Kindness Cup. Kate also gave a heartfelt speech detailing how kindness was just as important as excelling academically.

She also spoke of her own family upbringing, saying: “People often ask me why I am so interested in the mental health of children and young people. The answer is quite simple – it is because I think that every child should have the best possible start in life.”

“When I was growing up, I was very lucky. My family was the most important thing to me. They provided me with somewhere safe to grow and learn, and I know I was fortunate not to have been confronted by serious adversity at a young age.”

Kate finished by talking about her own children and the values she hopes to instil in them: “My parents taught me about the importance of qualities like kindness, respect and honest, and I realise how central values like these have been to me throughout my life. That is why William and I want to teach our little children, George and Charlotte, just how important these things are as they grow up.”

This was one of the few speeches the Duchess has given over the years and is something she hopes to work on in her role as a royal figure.
