Apple are known for many things, but being affordable isn’t one of them. However, the launch of the new version of its iPhone SE is set to change all of that.
At £419, this latest phone will give customers access to many of the Phone 11's high-end features for a fraction of the price.
The original iPhone SE launched in March 2016 and this second-generation has the same 4.7-inch screen and physical Home button with TouchID fingerprint reader.
However, it has been upgraded with an A13 Bionic chip - the same one that is in Apple's current flagship iPhone 11 models.
Though many features are the same, there is only one 12-megapixel camera system on the rear, as opposed to its multi-lens siblings, but Apple claims it is capable of creating depth-effect photos using Portrait Mode.
When can you get your hands on it?
The phone comes in three colours — black, white and red — and is available to pre-order with prices starting at £419.
However, like most Apple products, it’s likely that the phone will sell-out quickly and rack up a waiting list so it’s worth getting in there early if you’re keen.
And it’s not just us who are excited, the brand themselves are pretty hyped up about it too:
Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said: “The first iPhone SE was a hit with many customers who loved its unique combination of small size, high-end performance and affordable price.”
Apple hope that the lower-cost model could broaden its appeal to budget-conscious customers and also attract more consumers to Apple services, which is a growing driver of revenue.
So, what are you missing?
Though the new iPhone SE has many of the same features you can expect from more expensive models, it lacks 5G capability and Apple's facial recognition system to unlock the device, instead relying on a fingerprint sensor similar to older models (so not quite back to the dark ages!).
What contracts are available?
It will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models, starting at £419 for the 64GB version.
Customers can also get iPhone SE for £10.99 a month or £279 with Apple's trade-in programme.
The new SE will come bundled with a one free year of the Apple TV+ streaming television service, similar to Apple's flagship devices released in the autumn.
