When you think of witches on Halloween, you might picture fancy-dress outfits with green faces, long black hair, and crooked noses. However, for real-life witch Inbaal Honigman, the 31st of October is a sacred day in her calendar and a special time for magic.

Speaking to psychic reading website Tarotoo, mum-of-four Inbaal shares that after her children are tucked up in bed following a night of trick or treating, she begins casting spells for the upcoming year. Inbaal reveals that while she only discovered her passion for witchcraft in her twenties, the gift of magic is something you're born with.

She even suggests that many of us could have mythical powers without even knowing it. Inbaal reveals there are clear signs you or someone you know could possess the gift. “If you’re the kind of person who naturally knows things and guesses things that are often right, you may just have the gift," she says.

"You could often feel like you're psychic because when someone calls, you know who it is without looking at your phone. Or when someone knocks at the door, you guess exactly who it will be. In children, the gift may show itself with an empathic nature or a love of nature and the outdoors. They may have a very emotionally mature response to things, and often be able to tell if something is bothering someone. Another sign could be your child telling a story about something that happened before they were born. For instance, they may talk about an old building and describe it in detail. When you research further, you will find what they're saying is accurate but question how they could know. This could be because they saw it in a past life.”

Halloween marks the new year for witches

She adds that being a witch is not something you can learn, but something you are born with. “Witches always say that the gift is something that comes from birth. If you feel that this is your calling, you’re probably most of the way there. If you want to explore the world further, simply read up on it, seek out the information and try your hand at a spell. There’s no time to waste!”

Simple spells you can try this Halloween

“Halloween is a powerful time for magic as it's when the veil between the worlds is the thinnest," explains Inbaal. "Witchcraft doesn’t have to be complicated and there are some simple spells you can use to bring good fortune into your life. I always say that being a witch and spells have helped me create my perfect life.”

A love spell

“If you’re new to magic, there are some simple spells you can try. For love, witches don’t believe in picking a person and using magic to make them love you. People have free will and this is taking advantage. Instead, we use spells to manifest the type of person we want. Love spells are great to do on a Friday too, as it means Frjádagr and the goddess of love. Run a bath and fill it with either rose or geranium essential oils as those plants have an association with love. In the bath, try to meditate on the kind of person you want to draw in. Think about their qualities and consider what they may look like. Keep calm and remain focused on the vision.”

An intimacy spell
“Feel a disconnect with your partner? Try lighting a red candle, as red is associated with passion. Let the candle burn as the flame carries your wish out to the universe. Engrave your initials and your partner’s initials into the wax. This is crucial as you don’t want to invite passion unchecked. Make it clear who you are wishing to connect with. You could even add your star signs or a love heart.”

A fertility spell

“I struggled to fall pregnant but managed to conceive my four children using spells. My favourite spell was to simply go out in nature and let the power of birth rush through my body. We had a vegetable patch in our garden, so I would walk through it or around it and visualise the energy of growth and the earth’s power in making the courgettes and peas grow in my garden. I would feel that energy coming through the souls of my feet and enveloping me. I stood there visualising the energy rising and my hips and my uterus on an evening when there was a full moon, which is a time when the moon is at its largest.”
