Easter eggs: How many calories are in your favourite?
With Easter just around the corner, we're looking forward to picking out the chocolate treats that have been lining supermarket shelves for what seems like weeks.
From the big and fancy to the perennially popular, there are a wealth of Easter eggs to choose from this year, but just how many calories are in some of the UK’s favourites?

A 40g Creme Egg
If you’re planning to avoid over-indulgence by popping a couple of Creme Eggs into your basket this Easter then you may be surprised to learn just how many calories are in one of the nation’s top treats.
A 40g Creme Egg contains 177 calories, but it's the sugar content that's really going to pack a sweet punch with 26.5g in each egg, which works out at over six teaspoons worth per egg.
Quite a lot considering current recommendations state that added sugar should make up no more than 5% of our daily calorie intake. The current World Health Organisation guidelines suggests for adults this is no more than seven teaspoons or cubes (30g) a day.

Freddo 122g Egg
A popular throwback favourite, the Freddo Faces medium Easter egg (122g) contains 533 calories per 100g.
Maltesers 127g Egg
Love to pounce on mini MaltEaster Bunnies at the first sign of them hitting the shelves? You might want to look away now.
There’s 528 calories per 100g worth of chocolate in a medium Maltesers Easter egg with 29g of fat and 59g of sugar per 100g.

Galaxy Minstrels 262g Egg
If you gave up chocolate for lent, you may want to make up for lost time.
A 262g Galaxy Minstrels hollow egg contains 528 calories per 100g and 498 calories per 100g in the minstrels that come with it.
Quality Street 275g Egg
According to the nutritional information, a Quality Street 277g Easter egg is 475 calories per 100g while the Quality Street chocolates inside are 45 calories per chocolate.
Mini Eggs 286g Egg
It wouldn't be Easter without Mini Eggs, but in case you were curious – the 286g hollow egg weighs in at 537 calories with 31g of fat per 100g serving, while the accompanying bag of Mini Eggs has 495 kcal per 100g.

Ferrero Rocher Golden Easter Milk Chocolate Egg 212g
The prize for the most calorific Easter eggs goes to the Ferrero Rocher Golden Easter Milk Chocolate Egg that comes complete with three gold foil-wrapped treats.
Though the deliciously indulgent egg is likely worth every bite, it does contain a pretty hefty 625 calories per 100g for the egg and 603 calories per 100g for the extra Ferrero Rocher chocolates, with each chocolate containing 71 calories.
Tony's Chocolonely Easter Eggs Assortment 150g
Tony's has become the go-to chocolate of choice in the last couple of years, but how do the calories stack up in this Easter offering?
While no doubt hitting highs in the taste test, it seems the collection of 12 delicious individually wrapped eggs with 10 different flavours, is pretty calorific at 544 calories per 100g.
It also clocks up 34g of fat in every 100g, but considering Easter comes but once a year, we certainly won't let that hold us back.
Lindt Gold Bunny Milk Chocolate 100g
Is it even Easter if you haven't tucked into at least one Lindt chocolate bunny? Turns out the dreamy treat is about average when it comes to calorie content with 544 calories for every delicious 100g consumed.
Cadbury Dairy Milk Flake Easter Egg 249g
"Only the crumbliest, flakiest chocolate, tastes like chocolate never tasted before." Remember the old Flake advert? Well turns out that claim comes with a calorie caveat with each 100g of the Easter egg version containing 536 calories per 100g.
Each of the three Flake bars the egg comes with contains 134 calories each, but the retro chocolate is sure to take you right back to the 80s or 90s with every yummy bite.
Nestle Rolo Medium Easter Egg 131g
Another perennially popular chocolate, the Rolo Easter Egg 131g comes in at 521 calories per 100g and contains 27.4g of fat.
Meanwhile there are 25 calories in each extra Rolo which comes with the egg, but do you love anyone enough to give them your last Rolo?
Mars Milk Chocolate Easter Egg And Chocolate 141g
A classic choice this Easter, you'll find 448 calories in every 100g serving of this delicious treat. While a standard Mars bar, which comes with, has an additional 230 calories.
Toblerone The Edgy Egg Milk Chocolate Easter Egg 298g
Easter 2023 has seen Toblerone bring out its first ever egg. They're calling it 'The Edgy Egg' and it's a hollow milk chocolate egg with Toblerone's signature honey and almond nougat pieces scattered throughout the shell. Yum!
While the new for this year egg will set you back £12 from Tesco, it's pretty calorific with 528 calories per 100g. We say it's well worth it though!
Kit Kat Chunky Biscoff Milk Chocolate Egg 274.5g
Have you ever heard of anything so delicious-sounding? This scrumptious milk chocolate egg comes accompanied by three KitKat Chunky Lotus Biscoff bars and will see you consume 530 calories for every 100g.
Meanwhile each 42g bar contains 221 calories.
