Hillary Clinton declares 'the future is female' in powerful new video statement
Since her defeat in the US election *still sobbing*, Hillary Clinton has retreated somewhat from public life. And though we totally get it, we’ve kinda been missing her inspirational take on life. But we need miss her no more as the lady herself is back and boy did she have a kickass statement to make.
In a video for the 2017 Makers Conference released on Monday, and her first statement since the inauguration, Clinton addressed the year’s theme (“Be Bold”), and delivered a rallying cry to women all around the world to continue the fight for gender equality.
The former Secretary of State went on to explain why girls and women everywhere have the power to do anything they set their minds to, before throwing some subtle shade at President Trump by reaffirming her support for last month’s Women’s March.
“Despite all the challenges we face, I remain convinced that, yes, the future is female,” she said. “Just look at the amazing energy we saw last month as women organised a march that galvanized millions of people all over our country and across the world.”
Issuing a call for women to keep the momentum going, Clinton explained that now more than ever, women need to remain strong.
“We need strong women to step up and speak out,” she continued. “We need you to dare greatly and lead boldly. So please, set an example for every women and girl out there who’s worried about what the future holds, and wonders whether our rights, opportunities, and values will endure.”
“And remember, you are the heroes and history makers, the glass ceiling breakers of the future,” she continued. “As I’ve said before, I’ll say again, never doubt you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and every opportunity in the world.”
