Have the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a change of heart about Prince George's school?
Earlier this week marked the deadline for parents to submit their preferences for primary school places for their children. And while parents wait nervously to find out the school they’ve been allocated, it seems that Kate and William have a good idea where they might be sending Prince George.
Though it was previously thought his royal cuteness might attend the same school as his father and Prince Harry, recent reports suggest the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge may have had a change of heart.
The three-year-old royal was expected to be enrolled at £6,865-a-term Wetherby School in Notting Hill, but it has been suggested that the youngster may in fact attend the school’s new branch in Kensington, when he starts reception in September.
According to the Sunday Express, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are thought to be more in favour of Wetherby Kensington because it is much more intimate and also less likely to attract photographers. Plus the new school is closer to Kensington Palace.
And as the Notting Hill branch of the school has also been embroiled in a row with neighbours, perhaps this could also contribute to the royal couple’s decision.
As reported by The Telegraph, the school has angered some residents by replacing what was once a garden with a “garish” blue playground that encourages “intolerable” behaviour from “screaming children.”
Residents have complained that as well as playtimes, PE lessons are now being held in the playground, “which, on top of the screaming children, brings the additional noise of whistle-blowing and shouting instructors.”
If Prince George does attend either branch of Wetherby he’ll certainly be in good company as previous famous Wetherby old boys include Hugh Grant, Romeo Beckham and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Last month it was reported that the Cambridges were preparing to move back to London from Norfolk. While William is said to be contemplating giving up his career as a helicopter pilot when his contract ends in March, Kate is also set to join her husband in taking on even more royal duties in 2017. And both are also reportedly hoping to expand their own Royal Foundation charity and spend more time focusing on causes such as mental health.
Whichever school Kate and William do eventually plump for, Prince George is sure to look super cute in his uniform. We’re looking forward to the first day of school pictures already.
