Halle Berry says her haircut changed her life
Halle Berry has claimed cutting her hair was a game-changer for her career.
As Coco Chanel is famously saying, “A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life”.
And the 52-year-old ‘Monster’s Ball’ actor, who rocked a pixie cut from the late 80s up until 2004, has suggested this proved true for her in terms of her career.
In an interview with US publication InStyle, Berry said of the cut: “I had no hair to hide behind, it was just all me.”

“Take it or leave it; love it or hate it. It was who I was.”
She said the cut was directly responsible for her winning her role in ‘Living Dolls’.
“I think that’s because the directors and producers actually saw me. Before that I had long hair like every other girl like me.”
While Berry has sported a longer hairstyle in recent years, it seems we shouldn’t be surprised if she chooses to return to her trademark crop.
“I have an affinity for short hair and I’ll go back [to it],” she said.
Berry’s pixie cut isn’t the only statement hairstyle she’s worked over the years.
At the 2017 Oscars, she celebrated her natural hair, pairing her custom Atelier Versace gown with free-flowing curls.

“With this look, I celebrate my natural hair by allowing it to be wild and free,” she told Vogue at the time.
While the pixie cut has somewhat fallen out of fashion since its 90s heyday, the lob (long bob) has proved popular in the past couple of years.
Most recently, actor Kate Beckinsale, 46, chopped off her long brunette locks in favour of a blonde choppy ‘do which just skims her shoulders.
