The "So Gorgeous" Wayfair Gem That Instantly Decluttered My Tiny Apartment

a cube shelving system creates the illusion of a separate sleeping space

I own more clothes than someone who lives in a tiny studio apartment — with only one average-sized closet — probably should. At first, my solution for the overflow was a clothes rack. It did the job well enough, but when your living room and bedroom are one and the same, it’s not so ideal. The fully-packed rack sat directly next to my desk and a few feet away from my couch. Visually, my setup left a lot to be desired. Even if I straightened up my entire apartment, my clothes being out in the open always worked against my efforts.

An armoire, I realized, would be a much better solution. However, most that came up in my initial search were enormous and much too clunky for my small space. I was after a narrow wardrobe that still had a ton of storage while looking simple and timeless. (Bonus points if its price tag wasn’t too steep.) Thankfully, Wayfair ended up having exactly what I was looking for. The Bayleigh Armoire is the first piece of Wayfair furniture that I’ve owned, in fact, and it’s impressed me so much that I’m sure it won’t be the last. Keep reading to find out why!

What is the Wade Logan Bayleigh Armoire?

Whereas most armoires are wide with double doors, this alternative is much slimmer, offering an impressive amount of storage for its small footprint. The design is ageless and versatile, with the only detail feature being the paneling around each door. It stands tall at a little over six feet, but in terms of width, it comes in at just under 16 inches. Depth-wise, it measures under 20 inches. The upper portion has a rod inside for hanging, while the bottom one has two shelves for stacking. All of that is finished off by sleek gold hardware. You can also install the included anti-tipping anchor for some extra stability.

Why I Love the Wade Logan Bayleigh Armoire

As a storage solution, armoires are underrated. They certainly go much more unappreciated than clothes racks. The latter may be the more affordable option of the two, but I’ve come to realize that armoires are better in pretty much every way — and totally worth it. This one from Wayfair, in particular, has won me over. After making the switch, my studio feels so much more elevated.

It fits right in with the rest of my vintage-style decor, with its clean lines and the subtle flair of the paneling. It makes my apartment feel more adult, too. Ever since my first dorm room in college, my living space has included a clothes rack, so swapping it for an armoire is a graduation of sorts. My clothes are finally concealed in a gorgeous package rather than being out for the whole world to see.

Beauty aside, this gem can hold a surprising amount despite its narrow build. My entire dress collection now hangs inside of it, freeing up nearly half of my closet. The bottom shelves hold all of my jeans, so an entire dresser drawer is empty now, too. Even though it’s nearly packed to the brim, the armoire is stable and sturdy, even without the included anchor. I haven’t detected any wobbling when I swing the doors open. I’ll admit that I had someone help me assemble it — I have an excuse with a leg injury — but he had no problems, figuring it out alone in under an hour.

I’m never going back to a clothes rack now that I’ve seen the difference an armoire can make. Not only does the armoire make my apartment decluttered, but it also makes the most of vertical space. I can even use the flat surface on top to stack extra books or hold a storage bin. A clothes rack could never!
