Gordon Ramsay reveals that he is going to 'give this vegan thing a try'
Gordon Ramsay has announced to fans that he is going to adopt a vegan diet.
Yesterday, the chef broke the news to his 6.68 million Twitter followers, as he wrote: “Going to give this #vegan thing a try… Yes guys you heard that right. Gx”
The 51-year-old accompanied the message with a sneak preview of a vegan pizza set to be served up at his new London-based restaurant, Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza, which opens today.

And the news will come as a surprise to fans, as the television chef is famed for his divisive views on veganism and vegetarianism.
Back in 2007 for instance, Ramsay ridiculed guest star Cheryl Cole on his television show, The F Word, for her vegetarian diet.
When the singer informed him of her dietary requirements, he scoffed: “Didn’t you get the message? Vegetarians aren’t welcome here.”
But it doesn’t stop there.
Later that year, the chef gave an interview with the Daily Mirror and revealed that if his kids ever thought about going vegetarian he would “sit them on the fence and electrocute them”.
Before he further riled up the vegan community on Twitter in 2017. When a fan tweeted the Michelin-starred chef to ask if he had any allergies, Ramsay simply replied: “Vegans”.
And his views sparked outrage, as many animal rights activists accused Ramsay of making fun of animal exploitation.

In February this year, the chef further fuelled the fire with a tweet in response to a fan’s vegan lasagne which stated: “I’m a member of PETA! People eating tasty animals”.
Though if there is truth behind the ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ star’s latest comments, then it seems he’s turning his back on recent mockery.

However, it’s interesting to note that he has voiced his latest views in the run-up to his new restaurant opening. A PR stunt? Only time will tell.
