McVitie’s announces launch of gingerbread and Christmas pudding-flavoured Digestives
2020 has been a year we won’t forget in a hurry - for all the wrong reasons.
But McVitie’s is trying to make the end of the year a little more palatable with the launch of its Gingerbread and Christmas Pudding Digestives next month.
There are still four months to go until Christmas is upon us, but McVitie’s clearly knew we needed a boost and - much like Aldi - has released its Christmas treats a little earlier this year.
The news was unofficially released on the Facebook page, Snack News & Reviews but McVitie’s has since confirmed with Yahoo UK that they are part of its 2020 Christmas range.
Launching in stores on 22 September, the news was met with mixed reviews with many Digestive lovers encouraging the brand not to mess with a good thing.
Let’s not forget that this isn’t the first time that McVitie’s has gone a bit off-piste with its Digestive recipes, though. Who else remembers the cherry bakewell ones?

If you’re looking to get your hands on these limited edition flavours, they’ll be available in Asda, Morrisons, Nisa, Co Op, Spar and on Amazon for £1.50 per packet.
“Are they mental? It’s only August,” one person wrote, clearly not ready for Christmas just yet.
Another added: “The kids aren’t even back at school yet.”
While many people were reluctant about just how early the news had broken, others were delighted at the prospect of Christmassy treats being available on our shelves.
“These gingerbread ones better be out for Halloween or, there'll be spells cast on McVitie’s,” one person wrote.
“A gingerbread digestive in your gingerbread coffee! If that's not Christmas I don't know what is,” another person gave us all the Christmas feels with this comment.

Admittedly, it’s a little early to start thinking about the C-word, but perhaps a little bit of festivity after the year we’ve all had will do us good.
After all, at the height of the pandemic, people started putting their Christmas lights back up in March to make themselves feel better.
Now that is early - or late?
“Our cupboards for Christmas are gonna (sic) be overflowing with how much is coming out,” one person commented.
That is a prospect we can all surely look forward to.
