We always hope that everything goes without a hitch, especially where children are concerned, but there’s no guarantee that a bump or a graze isn’t around the corner.

Your first aid kit should be locked and kept in a cool, dry place out of the reach of children and many people.

However, with so many out there, how do you know which one to buy?
Well, first it’s worth knowing what your first aid kit should always include.
The NHS advises any basic first aid should feature plasters in a variety of different sizes and shapes, gauze dressings, at least two sterile eye dressings, triangular bandages, crêpe rolled bandages and safety pins.
It should also include disposable sterile gloves, tweezers, scissors, alcohol-free cleansing wipes, sticky tape and thermometer (preferably digital) and skin rash cream, such as hydrocortisone or calendula.
As well as this, ideally your kit will also have cream or spray to relieve insect bites and stings, antiseptic cream, painkillers such as paracetamol (or infant paracetamol for children), aspirin (not to be given to children under 16), or ibuprofen, cough medicine, antihistamine cream or tablets, distilled water for cleaning wounds, eye wash and eye bath.
