Fashion Nova releases £35 version of Meghan Markle's Stella McCartney wedding dress
Affordable online fashion brand Fashion Nova have released a £35 ($44.99) version of Meghan Markle’s Stella McCartney reception dress – and it’s already selling fast.
The US website has a replica of the Duchess of Sussex’s halterneck fitted gown, which they have named ‘The Royal Debut Dress,’ and they ship to the UK.
Meghan changed into a second outfit for her evening reception at Frogmore House in Windsor, after wowing the world in her double-bonded silk cady Givenchy bridal gown.
Her Stella McCartney number is rumoured to have cost anything between £80,000 – £100,000 and the British designer even released a collection of evening gowns, similar to the one Meghan wore on her big day.
Only 46 were made, in lily-white and onyx black, and reportedly cost £3,500 each. Customers were invited to view them by private appointment and only if they received an invitation from the designer herself.
In an interview with the BBC, McCartney revealed that she and Meghan worked on the gown together.
She also suggested that the dress gave Meghan the last opportunity to ‘reflect her human side,’ before she joined the Royal Family.
She said: “The role that she’s taken on, it’s very austere, it’s very sort of serious and I think there’s a great weight that she has acquired through that and she takes it very seriously and I think it was the last moment, she could reflect the other side to her: the joy and the human within her.”
The Duchess also wore Aquarazza shoes and Princess Diana’s aquamarine ring for her evening look.
Her Givenchy wedding dress is now on display at Windsor Castle in their exhibition, A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with a version of her husband Harry’s Household Cavalry frockcoat.
