From empty greeting cards to deodorant, people share their worst Christmas gifts
People are sharing their least favourite Christmas gifts on social media, and there are some pretty passionate views.
American professional wrestler and TV personality Brandi Rhodes asked her followers to reveal the one thing they didn’t want to receive over the festive season, which got everyone reminiscing on disappointing presents from the past.
What’s the one thing you DON’T want for Christmas??? Or your least favorite thing to get as a gift??

While recipients have mixed reasons for hating their gifts (some dislike thoughtless gifts, while others are more offended by meagre offerings like empty cards), there is objectively a whole host of bad gifts in this Twitter thread.
Some resented being given the same thing every year.
Winter scarf. I get that almost every year in secret santa…

Make up bags, as I don’t wear make up and I seem to get one every Christmas from the same people 😐

More candles!!! How many can a house have – and don’t say never enough. We’ve been given so many over the years lighting them all would be like living on the sun!!!

Body sprays and deodorant proved a particular bugbear for some.
I don’t like giving/getting what I consider daily necessities. My wife asked for some Native-brand deodorant. That’s not a gift. That’s the equivalent of wrapping a box of toothpaste and giving it to her. I got her Star Wars and Harry Potter stuff instead 😂

Scented lotions. Why does the default gift for women have to be disgustingly sweet and fake scented fruity goop. No thanks!

Body spray gift sets. What are you saying? Do I smell?

Then there are the gifts which lack any real thought.
Christmas cards with NOTHING in it!!

Poinsettia plants. I’m allergic to latex, and poinsettias bleed latex when cut.
Near second: weird candy. I hate nougat, milk chocolate, and taffy. Boxed mixed chocolates are just hateful.

Jewelry…I hate it/don’t wear it, but some people still get it for me. It’s like they don’t know me at all.

Sweaters. Not in a “oh, what a lame gift” way, but in a “damnit, this sweater is awesome…but I live in LA…” way.

Anything that isn’t very practical or didn’t have a lot of thought put into it. One year I had an ex-boyfriend regift me a blanket that he bought with me an I always used when I went over to his place.

Gift cards, meanwhile, sparked some debate among users.
Gift cards. They just show that someone put no thought into a gift for me.

Gift cards from close family. Too impersonal. I don’t want expensive gifts, just thoughtful ones.

A coffee mug or a “cute saying” sign. My sister gets me this shit all the time and I’m like “how many walls do you think I have? Give me a gift card let me go shopping man”

I guess I’m one of the few who loves gift cards

Some others were just grateful to receive any gifts at all.
How about we just appreciate the gifts we receive no matter what they may be. Just be thankful you’re fortunate enough to receive one.

Before my fiancé I never had anybody outside of my family get me anything…. so for anybody to take the time to get me something it’d mean a lot….. which is what I tell my fiancé every time we talk about it lol
