Emma Watson's style evolution, from Harry Potter star to eco-conscious fashion icon
Emma Watson is a woman of many talents. The 33-year-old actor rocketed to fame after starring as Hermione Granger in the film adaptions of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter franchise.
Since the series came to a close in 2011, the Paris-born star has continued her film career with roles in Beauty and the Beast, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Little Women.
She’s also enjoyed success as a women’s rights activist, with a feminist book club and an appointment as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador under her belt.
Watson’s role as a style icon has proved to be just as notable. Booked as a Burberry model for the British label’s autumn/winter 2009 collection and the following season, too, she quickly emerged as a fashionista early on in her career.
“I love fashion. I think it's so important, because it's how you show yourself to the world,” Watson told Teen Vogue at the time.
A grown-up, pixie haircut came next, in August 2010. The star proceeded to star on the cover of Vogue and scored a Lancôme perfume campaign. Her fashion credentials were becoming clear.

The actor’s desire to use fashion for good was clear early on: a partnership with ethical brand People Tree came in 2009.
Watson joined the Green Carpet Challenge in 2015, confirming that every item she would go on to wear on the red carpet would be sustainable.
The Calvin Klein dress, worn to the 2016 Met Gala in NYC, was a prime example of this goal. Made entirely from recycled plastic bottles, it hit headlines globally.
Five years later, Watson made a statement at the Earthshot Prize ceremony wearing an upcycled look by Harris Reed. The white tulle look was created using secondhand wedding dresses from Oxfam.
