Ellie Goulding surprises nurse on her 'virtual' wedding day by singing along to first dance
The coronavirus lockdown has seen wedding ceremonies across the UK cancelled - but not all love has been lost.
A nurse was overjoyed to be able to marry her boyfriend online in a “virtual” celebration yesterday with family and friends from their home.
Even better, the newlyweds were left shocked after Ellie Goulding made a surprise appearance to sing them a song for their first dance.
The bride, Hayley Pitman, and groom, Harvey Skelton, had just said “I do” when the star, 33, popped up screen to perform live a rendition of her hit ‘Love Me Like You Do’.

The couple’s nuptials had been organised by online wedding directory For Better For Worse who revealed the amazing end to the couple’s big day in a post on Twitter.
Sharing a link to the moment on YouTube, they wrote: “Yesterday @elliegoulding made a surprise appearance and performed a song in our very special online isolation wedding that we were holding for a couple.”
The video clip begins with the groom being told “you may kiss the bride”, followed by a round of applause from their guests all tuning in via Zoom.
They are then told that to sing their first dance song will be the singer, prompting the couple to look at the screen in front of them in amazement.

Before she began, a beaming Ellie - sat on her sofa at home with a guitar on her lap - told them: “Congratulations Harvey and Hayley.
“You’re both heroes and we all love you.”
The special “isolation wedding” was held as part of an effort by the brand to raise £2,000 for the NHS.
In a post on Just Giving, they explained: “We heard of a lovely couple named Hayley and Harvey that were meant to be married on Saturday 11th April 2020 at Manor By The Lake in Gloucestershire.

“They have unfortunately had to postpone their special day until October because of recent events.
“Bride-to-be Hayley is an NHS nurse working tirelessly and lots of her family also work for the NHS too, whilst her future husband Harvey is a rugby community development officer.”
They continued: “On Saturday 18th April, we have arranged for an online wedding to take place for the special couple and their friends and family.”
The post added: “The ‘Love in Lockdown’ online wedding that we have specially arranged for Hayley and Harvey will turn this turbulent time into a positive and give their close friends family something to look forward to, create memories and give us something to smile about when we all need it most.”
