Supermarket stocks Easter eggs just two days after Christmas
Easter eggs are already hitting supermarket shelves, with over 100 days to go until they will actually be eaten.
It may be just a few days after Christmas, but it seems major UK retailer the Co-op is already looking forward to Easter Sunday, which falls on 12 April in 2020.
Two branches – in the Southwell Nottingham, and Cottingham, East Yorkshire – are stocking the chocolate eggs, together with bunny and chick shaped seasonal chocolate. It’s believed they first came into stock on 27 December.
As pictures testify, the shelves are lined with everything from Cadbury mini eggs to Maltesers bunnies – starting at just £1.

And, while some may welcome the opportunity to look forward to Easter, it seems some shoppers are not happy with the early arrival of the themed confectionary.
"It's like the shops are wishing our lives away,” lamented shopper Charlotte Donnelly, 33. "We had Christmas preparations from September onwards and now we're all just recovering from that we're being made to think about April already. It's ridiculous.”
Mum-of-two Samantha Tide, 45, was similarly vexed, calling the Co-op’s decision “frustrating”.
She said: "It's so frustrating to be met with all these new chocolates when you're in a shop with your kids.
"All they want are eggs or chocolate lollipops because you can't get away from them.
"I'm partial to a Cadburys Creme Egg myself but not in January when the diet starts. Give me until March or April and I'll definitely be off the wagon and ready to buy one."

For those looking forward to Easter 2020, Cadbury announced earlier this year they will be selling giant tubs of Creme Eggs, weighing 401 grams – due to be stocked in supermarkets ahead of the big day. The only other thing we’re unclear on is whether or not the Creme Eggs will be miniature or full size.
The launch date for this supersized Easter treat has yet to be announced.
