EastEnders star selling old scripts to 'put a roof over head' lands new role 12 years after soap axe
EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison has bagged herself a new job shortly after it was revealed she had been selling her old scripts for cash. Just days ago, Cheryl revealed exclusively to OK! that she had been selling scripts from the BBC One soap and other merchandise to "put a roof over [her] head" after being "overlooked" for acting roles.
However Cheryl’s luck has turned and on social media, she has shared the exciting news that she will be appearing in pantomime this December. Cheryl will be playing the role of Fairy Godmother in a production of Cinderella in The Cresset, Peterborough.
Fans were equally happy for Cheryl and rushed to congratulate the star on her new role with one writing: “Aww that is fantastic Cheryl x”. Another added: “Can’t wait!!”, whilst another simply wrote: “Absolutely brilliant”. Cheryl’s son, Alex Saddiqi, 25, will also star in the production.

Cheryl played Heather Trotter in EastEnders from 2007 to 2012. But her character was brutally killed off after being hit over the head with a picture frame by Ben Mitchell (Joshua Pascoe). Since then, Cheryl has appeared in some roles from Buig School, to Whist Island and Hard Cell.
But the actress expressed she was having to sell old scripts from her time on EastEnders, as well as merchandise, to make ends meet. There had been reports that she was in 'hot water' over copyright rules, but Cheryl explained: "I was told some years ago that after a period of time, this was okay to do. I have donated scripts to various charities over the years in much the same way, by giving them to auctions to raise money for their charities."
Cheryl added: "There is unofficial merchandise being sold either online or in various places, I wanted to give true fans a chance to have something of my era at EastEnders. I think that people need to get their heads around the fact we have to earn a living, we are not always fortunate to be filming all the time and working in our chosen and trained profession. I do not see that anything is wrong with what I am doing when I have been told this is something I can do."
The star also explained that she felt “blessed” by the fact that people still loved the character of Heather and that as they’re willing to buy old scripts, she’ll “give the fans what they are asking for”.
