The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to dine with actress Alicia Vikander on royal tour
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will dine with award-winning actress Alicia Vikander during their first official visit to Norway and Sweden, Kensington Palace has revealed.
On Tuesday 30th January, the royal couple will embark on a royal tour of the neighbouring countries, as they are ‘keen to experience a taste of the Scandinavian way of life for themselves’.
And to mark their first evening in Stockholm, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be joined by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel for a black-tie dinner hosted by the British Ambassador.
But in a rather surprising move, the royals will also be joined by Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander and Mamma Mia star (and father to fellow actor Alexander Skarsgård) Stellan Skarsgård, as representatives of “popular culture”.
During their second stint of the official visit, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will then meet the cast of cult Norweigen drama series, Skam, before paying a visit to the show’s set.
According to Kensington Palace, the aim of the trip is to “meet as many Swedes and Norweigens” as possible from members of the public who work in the mental health sector to leading government officials.
The royal press release further states: “The Duke and Duchess are keen to experience a taste of the Scandinavian way of life for themselves, and to see how people of all generations battle the elements to make the most of their surroundings, whether ice-skating in Stockholm’s local parks, or skiing off-piste in the hills that surround Oslo.”
It is widely believed that the couple will not be attending with their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, as they will be occupied at school and nursery during term time.
