A definitive guide to London Fashion Week September 2017

Make a note in your diaries, as London Fashion Week September 2017 is well and truly upon us. In just a mere few weeks, the biggest names in the industry will descend on London decked in their finest (most Instagrammable) clobber.

But what can we expect from one of the world’s most fashionable cities this season?

When is London Fashion Week September 2017?

London Fashion Week September 2017 will take place between the 15^th and 19^th of September. The five-day event will kick off with emerging designers Paula Knorr and Richard Malone’s latest collections and will close on the Tuesday evening with US label Tommy Hilfiger pencilled in as one of the final shows.

Where is London Fashion Week going to be held this season?

For the past handful of seasons, Brewer Street Car Park played host to a large majority of shows and presentations. But this September, London Fashion Week has moved premises. The Store Studios are the new home of fashion’s biggest names and will be where the industry insiders head for the sartorial action.

Do I need a ticket to get involved?

London Fashion Week may be an industry-only event but there are still ways to get involved. Every season, London Fashion Week Festival opens its doors to anyone hoping for a glimpse of the action.

And the ticketed event gives fashion devotees the chance to watch four designers showcase their collections on the runway over the weekend. Guests will also have the opportunity to attend exclusive talks and panel discussions with industry experts.

This season, hear from Lesley Miller, a curator behind the ‘Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion’ exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Or take the opportunity to listen as Fashion Week regular Alice Temperley discusses her new book, ‘English Myths and Legends’.

Just make sure to have your credit cards at the ready, as there will also be the chance to check out over 150 pop-up stores from House of Sunny to Georgia Hardinge. London Fashion Week Festival will also take place at new venue, The Store Studios. But tickets are bound to be a sell-out so make sure to head to the website before we get there first…

The labels to name-drop this season

Which brands have caught the fashion industry’s attention this September? Keep an eye out for Simone Rocha who delivers an eerily gothic aesthetic through trademark broderie anglaise-heavy dresses season after season.

NEWGEN designer Sadie Williams is expect to draw in an A-list circle of friends including Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof at Saturday’s presentation.

Look out for the regular fashion fixtures

There are certain shows, which prove trickier to bag tickets to with Burberry being a prime example. Tickets for the Brit label’s show are the most sought after so it comes as no surprise that the fashion house draws an A-list crowd with ease season after season.

Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Jourdan Dunn are sure-fire fixtures while the brand also manages to bag the latest ‘It’ girls on the fashion scene. Our guesses are on Lottie Moss, Iris Law and the Waterhouse sisters to sit FROW.

Also, make sure to keep a beady eye out for fellow Brit ‘It’ label, Shrimps. Hannah Weiland has swiftly become one of the most talked about designers in the business having launched her faux-fur line just four years ago. Expect a gaggle of fashion’s favourite girls to arrive at the presentation decked head to toe in her eclectic designs. We’re talking Poppy Delevingne, Laura Jackson and Alexa Chung to name a few.

Other reigning brands of the season include J.W. Anderson, Emilia Wickstead and NEWGEN’s Molly Goddard.

So, what’s new this season?

Tommy Hilfiger is set to showcase in London for the first time this season so we can expect muse Gigi Hadid to fly in from the states. The Roundhouse will provide a historical backdrop to the debut collection and the AW17 line will be available to shop instantaneously in over 70 countries.

But that’s not all, as couture fashion house Ralph and Russo will have the fashion crowd’s full attention, as they prepare to showcase their debut ready-to-wear line on day one of fashion week.

Who can we expect to see on the front row?

Trends change and so do the faces sitting FROW. But who can we expect to see sitting in the hottest seats in the house during London Fashion Week September 2017?

We can of course expect fashion fixtures Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof to support close friend Henry Holland at his show on the Saturday. Up-and-coming names including Anaïs Gallagher, Iris Law and twin sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey are sure to be in attendance at a handful of shows.

Who to follow ahead of fashion month

In recent years, you needn’t be sitting FROW to witness the fashion as it happens. Thanks to live streaming services, Snapchat, Instagram Stories and Instagram Live, it’s never been easier to catch up with the latest goings on. But who should you give a quick follow ahead of fashion month?

Look to the likes of Pandora Sykes, Laura Jackson, Yasmin Sewell and Camille Charrière for the latest goings on in London this season. We’re talking #OOTD snaps, exclusive shots of star-studded after-parties and Instagram Stories documenting the shows so well, you won’t experience an inch of FOMO.

But what about the action that goes on behind the scenes? Look to models of the moment Adwoa Aboah, Alana Arrington and Alicia Burke for everything from dress fittings to hair and make-up this season.

And of course, look to the British Fashion Council for official updates ahead of the big week.
