Death in Paradise's brand new spin-off finally confirms release date
Death in Paradise's new Australian spin-off has confirmed a UK release date – and it's not far off.
Return to Paradise is set to focus on new character DI Mackenzie Clarke (played by Home and Away's Anna Samson) as she returns to her hometown of Dolphin Cove and reluctantly joins the police.
It has now been confirmed by the BBC that the show will premiere in the UK on Friday, November 22 at 8pm on BBC One.
As well as Samson, the show stars Home and Away's Tai Hara as Clarke's ex-fiancée Glenn, as well as Ted Lasso's Lloyd Griffith, Catherine McClements, Celia Ireland, Andrea Demetriades and Aaron McGrath.
The synopsis reads: "The Paraverse’s first lead female detective Mackenzie Clarke is forced to leave London under a cloud of suspicion and return back to the last place she ever wanted to be, her hometown of Dolphin Cove, Australia.
"Having fled the town six years ago, infamously leaving her ex-fiancée Glenn at the altar, Mackenzie is not welcome back. But with no other job options and a compulsion for solving mysteries, a reluctant Mackenzie joins the team at Dolphin Cove Police Station.
"Once a case lands on her desk, she can’t rest until she’s figured it out and the killer is in handcuffs. It’s that tenacity and work ethic that might just, over time, help Mackenzie win over her new colleagues and the people of Dolphin Cove."
Meanwhile, Death in Paradise wrapped up its 13th season earlier this year, which saw the departure of Ralf Little as DI Neville Parker. He will be succeeded by Don Gilet, who will debut as new DI Mervin Wilson this Christmas.
Elsewhere, filming on the third season of spin-off show Beyond Paradise began over the summer.
Return to Paradise will premiere in the UK on Friday, November 22 on BBC One at 8pm. Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
