'There's a lot of drudgery': Will Meghan Markle get bored of royal life?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are over six months into their marriage, with their first child on the way in spring 2019.
Meghan has successfully navigated her way through various engagements and annual events, such as Trooping the Colour and the Remembrance Day services, as well as her debut royal tour.
But, is there a danger Meghan could get bored of royal life?
Producer and founder of TrueRoyalty.tv, Nick Bullen tells Yahoo UK‘s The Royal Box: “The reality of being a member of the Royal Family is it’s actually pretty dull and pretty straightforward. You’re planting trees in the pouring rain in Nottingham on a Wednesday morning… The job is every day out there shaking hands.
“For Meghan, who’s come from California, it isn’t all red carpet and big snazzy world tours, there’s a lot of drudgery.”
PR expert Dean Piper says: “Right now she’s looking really strong but it must be wearing.”
Royal editor Camilla Tominey says she understands why former actress Meghan, as a creative person, might feel inhibited but adds: “That’s why it’s important to have her, not as plus one, but as the Duchess of Sussex with her own office and this is why I’m making this First Lady comparison.
“We can’t have the Duchess of Cambridge or Sussex being these princesses who are seen and not heard.”
Meghan already launched her first solo project in September, supporting a charity cookbook in collaboration with the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, whose lives have been affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.
She also gave three confident speeches about women’s rights and education during her time on tour and with her as the fourth member of The Royal Foundation, alongside Harry, William and Kate, this may be the issues she chooses to focus on going forward.
Meaning less tree planting and more campaigning…
