Cyclist wrecks couple's honest proposal photo – after three months of planning
One man’s plan to capture the moment he proposed to his girlfriend on camera was ruined, and all thanks to a pesky cyclist.
Blake Martin, a 25-year-old PhD student from Louisville, Kentucky in the US, proposed to Shannon Keene, 24, his girlfriend of four years, on November 9.
He had been planning the proposal for three months, and had hatched a plan to get a mutual friend to photograph the moment he asked Shannon to marry him.
Shannon tells SWNS: “One of my law school friends has taken photos of us in the past and Blake reached out to her and asked her if she could send me a message, pretending she wanted to test out her new lens.”
But all did not go to plan when an ‘orange blur’ whizzed past at the exact moment Blake got down on one knee.
Blake says: “I was extremely nervous. It all happened so fast. I got down on one knee and this orange blur just zipped by and screamed ‘Sorry’. It was nuts.”
The man apologised before continuing on his journey, but sadly the moment had already been hijacked with the cyclist forming a third party in the candid proposal shot.
Thankfully, it seems like Shannon saw the funny side.
She says: “When we saw it we both cracked up. It was a good reminder that you shouldn’t take things too seriously.”
Recently, a man’s proposal to his girlfriend halfway through her first marathon divided the internet.
Kaitlyn Curran was running on mile 16 of the New York City Marathon when her partner of four years, Dennis Galvin, jumped over the barrier and got down on one knee.
