Fashion magazine praised for featuring nine NHS workers on front cover amid coronavirus outbreak
Hospitals around the UK have been lauded for their efforts to fight coronavirus as numbers falling ill continues to soar - and last night millions cheered on the NHS from their homes.
Now, the British edition of Glamour magazine has released a special “celebrity cover” to honour staff working on the “frontline” to keep the nation safe.
It was unveiled by the fashion title last night Instagram, and features nine women currently carrying out duties for the health service during the pandemic - including doctors and nurses.
Explaining their choice of cover stars, editor-in-chief Deborah Joseph said: “At GLAMOUR we’re accustomed to seeing celebrities and public figures grace the covers of magazines.

“But for our latest cover, we wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge and show gratitude to the NHS.
“It’s a nod of appreciation to the people who work tirelessly day in, day out to keep us safe and healthy.
“So as the country cheers them on at 8pm tonight, we’re releasing a special cover featuring 9 frontline workers.
“From nurses, A&E doctors, care workers, midwives and registrars to all the people who keep our hospitals running, we want to say a huge thank you.

“These are extraordinary times. If anything, recent events have served to highlight what we truly value in life and society. The NHS has always been cherished and never more so than now."
The move was widely praised on social media, with more than 8,000 people leaving ‘likes’.
One person wrote: “This is amazing!!!”
Another commented: “Incredible.”

It comes as the fashion industry has been severely affected by the coronavirus outbreak, with non-essential clothes shops closing.
Yesterday, Umar Kamani, the CEO of PrettyLittleThing, announced on Instagram that he will donate an entire month’s salary to small businesses struggling due to recent events.
In a post, he wrote: "Join me tonight on IG Live at 7pm GMT. I will be donating my salary this month towards supporting small businesses who are struggling in this time of need."
Shortly afterwards, his brand added: "As one of the UK’s most successful businessmen, Umar feels strongly that now, more than ever, company leaders should rally together and create a supportive community network to help smaller, independent businesses navigate the coming weeks and months."
