A cheese lover wouldn’t say no to a chunk of cheddar or beautifully baked Camembert, however, you may have to think twice before trying the latest cheesy treat: Cheese tea.

Yes, we like cheese and we like tea, however we’re not overly keen about the idea of the two together.

However, the delicacy has become a gourmet delight in Asia, and has even made its way to New York. So, it’s probably only a matter of time before we get our hands on the unusual flavoured drink.

As the name suggests the creation consists of the tea of your choice, such as matcha, oolong or jasmine, topped with about an inch of frothy whipped cheese – erm, delicious?

HEYTEA, a tea shop in China created the drink around seven years ago, and has been perfecting the recipe ever since. Whilst the pairing may make you feel slightly queasy at first, according to Condé Nast Traveler it actually works as, “the rich cheese foam makes the tea taste even better”.

Not convinced? HEYTEA sell 2,000 to 3,000 cups daily in each of their 69 stores. Yes, that is an awful lot of cheese tea, so they must be doing something right.
