Chanel debuts fancy PVC boots in Paris
Clear PVC boots are now officially Chanel-approved, thanks to Karl Lagerfeld. For the last day of Paris Fashion Week, Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into a man-made cliffside waterfall, making the PVC footwear fitting for the damp setting.
Both fresh and seasoned models, including Kaia Gerber, Lexi Boling, and Binx Walton, walked beside the waterfall wearing classic Chanel tweed crop tops, blazers, dresses, and fringe miniskirts coupled with PVC bucket hats, fingerless gloves, handbags, and boots.
But just because Lagerfeld decided to make clear PVC boots doesn’t make them revolutionary. Similar clear footwear had previously made an appearance back in September 2016, when Kanye West introduced his thigh-high version during Season 4 of his Yeezy show.

Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner quickly popularized the footwear trend, causing several retailers to create versions for a fraction of the price (a selection of which can be found on Polyvore.com).
Although the PVC accessories at Chanel were front and center, the collection’s ready-to-wear spanned both wearable, statement, and classic garments. Tie-dye resort-wear style dresses, caftans, and one-piece bathing suits, along with colorfully crocheted knit tanks and denim-on-denim looks were juxtaposed with elegant white maxi dresses with bead embellishments.
At the end of show, during Lagerfeld’s signature finale walk, the designer usually takes along an it-model for his runway stride. Lily-Rose Depp, Cara Delevingne, and Kendall Jenner have all previously occupied this coveted spot. So instead, Lagerfeld opted for his godson, the young Hudson Kroenig, who is no stranger to the Chanel catwalk, for the designer’s final bow.
Of course, Kroenig was clad in Chanel tweed and his own mini PVC hat.
