Chanel's Couture AW17 beauty look was punk in the front, business updo in the back
Finally an OTT haute couture make-up look we can get on board with. Leave the bare-faced complexion, undone hair and spa skin at home, Chanel just gave us a punk sunset eyeshadow look that's perfect for festival season.
Created by make-up artist and backstage legend Tom Pecheux, the rainbow swatched eyeshadow look included painterly washes of blue, red, green and orange swept all the way up and over the eyebrows with just a dash of silver to up the punk ante.

Those rules you thought you knew about applying make-up? Yup, Chanel just smashed them to pieces. In a chic way, of course.
A stark (or should we say fun) contrast to the charcoal palette and buttoned up silhouette of the couture collection, the new romantic-esque make-up gave a nod to the multi-coloured paint daubed eyes from the fashion house's SS14 show, and reflected Karl Lagerfeld's continued love for the arts.

However, Chanel's AW17 couture offering was a game of two halves.
Yes, the make-up may have been artsy, but the hair was all lady.
Dubbing the sleek low-slung ponytail the 'Chanel Twist', hair legend Sam Mcknight twisted models' hair into a loop at the nape of their necks before finishing with Modern Hairspray, a product from the hairstylists' own range, to set the look.

But when hair looks this good, hair nets are a must. Backstage, models donned the more practical accessory to protect their newly looped 'dos.
Arizona Muse in a hair net? Now that's what we call accessible fashion.
