Life feels pretty frazzled right now, but turns out there are some everyday annoyances that can really tip us over the edge, including getting stuck behind a dawdler and sitting next to someone smelly.

The top daily pet peeve will come as no surprise to many with bad manners being voted as the most annoying irritation, with almost half (47%) citing it as a major gripe.

People with body odour taking the seat next to you on the bus also scored high (42%), while over a third (38%) voted for stubbing your toe. Ouchy!

On a similar theme to those not being a fan of poor manners, 36% said bad customer service really gets on their wick.

While, lateness (34%), sales calls (32%), slow walkers (32%) and people who chew loudly (36%) also made the list of everyday frustrations.

One in ten loath washing up a scrambled egg-caked pan, while 18% get the red mist when their film buffers right in the middle of playing.

The poll of 2,000 adults, by plant-based food makers, Oddlygood, revealed that a resounding 86% agree that small annoying moments have the power to ruin your day, with the average Brit feeling properly peeved on average five times a day.

Unsurprisingly, the most annoying day of the week is Monday, with 41% agreeing life seems to be getting more annoying each week.

And equally unsurprisingly Friday is considered the happiest day of the week, as voted by 41% of those quizzed.

In stark contrast for those of us waiting for the weekend to roll round, a happy go lucky half of those polled (51%) claim they are in a good mood most of the time, no matter what day of the week it is.

When it comes to who winds us up the most, colleagues came top with almost a quarter (23%) claiming their fellow workers were top aggravators, followed by family (19%) and friends (18%).

Watch: Half of Brits use relaxing pastimes to boost mental health

Despite lots of things putting us in a grump, we still have more happy moments than sad, with Brits claiming to feel joy seven times a day on average.

Commenting on the findings a spokesperson for Oddlygood says: “The list of bug bears that will get under the skin of Brits is endless, and we don’t blame them, there’s a lot of annoying things out there.

“Despite the obvious annoyances, it’s great to see that Brits have more happy moments than sad, so not all hope is lost.”
