Brie Larson channels her inner superhero in custom Valentino at 'Captain Marvel' London premiere
Brie Larson wore a dramatic Valentino gown at the ‘Captain Marvel’ premiere at the Curzon Mayfair in London last night.
The ‘Captain Marvel’ film, which is the 21st in the Marvel franchise, is the first to have a female lead, with Larson playing the eponymous role.
Larson, 29, lived up to Marvel fans’ expectations with her choice of superhero-inspired gown, which was custom-made by Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.
She later shared, with her two million Instagram followers, a picture of her pictured from behind at the premiere.

The gown featured a dramatic blue cape which Larson could wear draped over her shoulders or alternatively, as it was seen in many photos, shrugged around her elbows.

What’s more, the royal blue and gold colour of the gown channelled Larson’s costume in the film – which was in turn inspired by the illustrations which depict a series of Captain Marvel superheroes in the original Marvel comics.

Samantha McMillen, Larson’s stylist, wrote a gushing homage to the dress on Instagram, saying she had “no words” to thank Piccioli.

Larson wasn’t the only person looking stylish on the red carpet.
Her co-stars Gemma Chan, Samuel L. Jackson and Jude Law all put their best fashion foot forward.
Chan wore a Brandon Maxwell top and coordinating trousers in red silk.
Law emanated smart casual chic in a black zip up jacket and white chinos, while Jackson also went for white trousers, but with a grey checked jacket.
The premiere was also attended by female police officers, who were present on the red carpet to mark 100 years of women in the Metropolitan Police.
The body shared a tweet to their followers, including a picture of the police officers alongside the ‘Captain Marvel’ cast.
