Guest booted from wedding after being accidentally invited
An embarrassed wedding guest has hit back after she was accidentally invited to a wedding, and then asked to leave in the midst of the merrymaking.
The horrifying incident was shared to Reddit by the irate guest who accompanied an image of the invite with a background tale so shocking, online commentators were almost as furious as she was.
The woman explained that she and her partner had received an unexpected invite to a wedding reception that they graciously accepted, never knowing how quickly the saga would unravel once they arrived.

“On the invite you can see in the pic, we were invited from 2pm, so we duly arrived in time for that,” she wrote.
The snub they never saw coming
Though the pair greeted the bride and shared a drink, she says it wasn’t until the head bridesmaid came over that the mistake came to light in the most humiliating way imaginable.
“The chief bridesmaid came over to shepherd me aside starting with ‘This is really awkward and I’m really sorry to say this, but you’re not supposed to be here until the evening and the bride is freaking out because there’s no place setting for you.’” the woman wrote.

“I wanted the earth to open up and swallow me.”
It turned out the pair had only been invited to the post-dinner party, and rather than making some extra space, the bride asked - via her bridesmaid - that they leave and return later.
“To add further insult- the ushers physically separated us with an arm gesture when calling everyone else to dinner, making us feel like social lepers,” she wrote.
In a killer move, the pair decided to leave the venue and spend the wedding present money on a night out for themselves.
Savage response to ‘awful’ couple
The response to the bride online was swift and merciless.
“Wow, what a bizarre situation you got thrown into by very rude and tactless people,” one person commiserated.
“I believe you did the right thing. You had proof, cold hard physical proof that the bride made a mistake and still they wanted to blame you and humiliate you,” another agreed.
“They sound awful,” another put it simply.

Suffice it to say one newlywed will be triple checking her outgoing invitations from now on, though as the guest confirmed, she never actually reached out to apologise.
“I’ve not heard from the bride at all since then, which is twisting the knife,” the guest wrote.
So then again, maybe a few guests will simply RSVP ‘no’ in future.
