Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds baby: Wilfred current favourite name choice
Earlier today, it was revealed that Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds have welcomed a son.
The prime minister, 55, and his fiancee, 32, announced the birth of a “healthy baby boy at a London hospital” this morning.
They are yet to reveal the name of their newborn – with a flurry of bets placing Wilfred as the frontrunner.
It is closely followed by Thomas, George and Alexander, according to bookies Ladbrokes.

Other popular options include Arthur, Charlie, Harry, Max and Oliver.
Winston – almost certainly inspired by the revered wartime Conservative prime minister – also makes the top 10, as does Lucius.
The name of the prime minister’s father, Stanley, makes the top 20, while the name of Carrie’s dad – Matthew – falls just outside the top 30.
Boris is also father to four children with former wife Marina Wheeler – daughter Lara Lettice, son Theodore Apollo, daughter Cassia Peaches and son Milo Arthur – as well as an unnamed daughter, fathered while he was mayor of London in 2009.

The new parents have recently been recovering from coronavirus at country estate Chequers.
A spokeswoman for the prime minister and his partner said both mother and baby are “doing very well”.
She continued: “The prime minister and Ms Symonds are thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital earlier this morning. Both mother and baby are doing very well.
“The PM and Ms Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team.”

It is understood the prime minister was present throughout the birth.
Symonds – the former head of communications for the Conservative Party – announced that they were expecting a baby on 29 February on her private Instagram account.
The details of the post, which also confirmed their engagement, were made public on 1 March.
Captioning a holiday photo of the couple, she wrote: “We got engaged at the end of last year...and we’ve got a baby hatching early summer.”

Symonds recently thanked the “magnificent” NHS for the “incredible” care they gave her fiancé.
In a series of Twitter posts earlier this month, she revealed “dark” days during which she had been “worried sick”.
The senior adviser to ocean conservation charity Oceana said she felt “lucky” as she was reunited with her fiancé.
Symonds had previously revealed on Twitter that she had been experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and had been self-isolating.
At the time, she revealed that after a week of rest she was feeling “stronger” and was “on the mend”.
She acknowledged that being infected while expecting a baby is “obviously worrying” and directed mums-to-be to official guidance from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
