Billy Porter steals the Golden Globes spotlight in feathered tuxedo and train
Billy Porter’s unwavering love affair with fashion is delightfully infectious and the US performer’s latest look sent social media hearts aflutter with his Golden Globe Awards 2020 entrance sure to make the history books.
Proving we can always rely on him to defy red carpet norms, Porter used the starry ceremony as an opportunity to showcase his sartorial know-how in a white suit-dress hybrid.
A bespoke ensemble by New York-based designer Alex Vinash, the ensemble consisted of a crisp button-up shirt, satin trousers and a floor-skimming tuxedo jacket - made complete with a feather-emblazoned train of course.
The social media-worthy ensemble took over three months and 465 hours to create courtesy of its 4,000 Swarovski crystals.

According to Porter, he chose white for the red carpet as the hue symbolises “peace, hope and new beginnings”.
Porter’s matching (may we add, sparkling) Jimmy Choo boots meant stylist Sam Ratelle had to step in to help keep the 12-metre train out of reach.
Fellow attendee, Christina Applegate, also helped the small screen star walk down the stairs at the A-list bash.

“This is not a sitting outfit, this is a standing outfit,” the ‘Pose’ star confirmed ahead of the ceremony.
Unsurprisingly, social media users rushed to praise Porter’s latest ensemble with many crowning him best-dressed before the red carpet even kickstarted.

“Billy Porter on the red carpet is my forever mood,” one tweeted.
A second added, “Billy Porter can’t do anything wrong. I mean, look at him.”
“I can genuinely say I’ve never seen Billy Porter in a less than spectacular outfit,” another wrote.

Though it’s not the first time the 50-year-old’s show-stopping wardrobe has graced the headlines.
Porter’s boundary-pushing outfits first made an impression at the 2019 Oscars courtesy of his tuxedo gown by Christian Siriano.
He later went on to win the 2019 Met Gala red carpet in a ‘Sun God’ ensemble by The Blonds - a not-so-subtle nod to Ancient Egypt.
Certainly not one to arrive in a conventional manner, Porter was carried onto the red carpet by six shirtless men decked in gold jewels.
We are not worthy.
