We have been itching to ditch our chunky biker boots, and waterproof jackets, in favour of a spring wardrobe.
With longer, and lighter days, finally here we can hang up the dark colours and sturdy footwear in favour of dresses and skirts paired with sleek white trainers - without fear of them being totally ruined by the rain.
Global fashion search engine Lyst has exclusively told us searches for white sneakers have spiked by 60% since January this year.
The most popular designs include Alexander McQueen Oversized Low Top trainers, which are searched for every two minutes on the site.
Balenciaga Track trainers, New Balance 990, and Adidas Continental 80 shoes have soared by 14% month on month.
It is no surprise that Veja and Superga trainers are also up there in Lyst’s top searches, as the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge have been spotted out in the designs respectively.
In recent months street style has seen a surge in fashion enthusiasts wearing chunky trainers, whether it is designs with platform designs or wide-soled trainers.
However, Lyst has revealed shoppers are now going “back to basics” and prefer simple designs instead.
A spokesperson for the company told us: “Sneakers go back to basics.
“Lyst has spotted a decrease in searches for chunky sneakers and a rise in views of minimal and sleeker monochromatic sneakers.
“White is by far the most popular colour for sneakers, followed by black which is gradually increasing in searches.”
Whether you want to follow in Meghan Markle or Duchess Catherine’s footsteps - quite literally - or are on the hunt for an alternative pair of white trainers, we have found the best buys to suit all budgets.
