The best girl power moments from the 2018 Golden Globe Awards
Last night’s 75th annual Golden Globe Awards is one that will go down in the history books with women across the industry standing in solidarity against sexual misconduct.
Host Seth Meyers kick-started the ceremony, as he addressed the star-studded audience with the opening line: “Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen”.
And he wasn’t joking, as women certainly took the reigns from what was once a male-dominated circle at last night’s event.
It was an evening of firsts, as Oprah Winfrey became the first black woman to receive the Cecil B DeMille lifetime achievement award.
While, the predominantly female cast of Big Little Lies (a series which delves into the topic of domestic violence) celebrated after winning big at the ceremony.
And in every single speech, female role models took the opportunity to address the sexual abuse scandal which rocked Hollywood.
After The Handmaid’s Tale took home the award for best television series in the drama category, actress Elisabeth Moss dedicated the trophy to the author: “Margaret Atwood this is for you, and all of the women who came before you and after you that speak out about injustices.”
While Nicole Kidman encouraged women to “continue the conversation” after she won Best Actress for her performance as a domestic violence victim in Big Little Lies.
From the impromptu image of the women behind the #TimesUp movement to the endearing support stars showed their peers, these are the most inspiring girl power moments from the 2018 Golden Globe Awards.
