Best dressed Brits at the Golden Globe Awards
The annual Golden Globe Awards might be held in California and largely attended by Americans, but the star-studded night out has also been attended by a good chunk of Brits over the years.
And while flying the flag for the UK – and the film or TV show they’re promoting – they’ve simultaneously showcased their sartorial prowess.
Catherine Zeta Jones hit headlines globally in 2018, when she attended the Golden Globe Awards in a show-stopping, semi-sheer Zuhair Murad gown with her father-in-law.
The same year, ‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke wowed in a strapless Miu Miu gown and Joseph Fiennes, star of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, paired a Time’s Up pin with his all-black ensemble.
In 2013, husband and wife Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz cemented their sartorial know-how status in two very chic looks.
A year later, in 2014, Emma Watson attempted to bring back the skirt-over-trousers trend in a red Dior gown and cigarette pants that would have looked ridiculous on anyone else.
Lily Collins, star of the BBC’s adaptation of ‘Les Miserables’ and Phil Collins’ daughter, paired a fairytale, floor-sweeping gown by Zuhair Murad with velvety lipstick and an updo Marie Antoinette would be proud of.
In 2006, Emma Thompson was a vision in a slinky, satin dress and an oversized stole. Her red carpet companion, Colin Firth, was equally dashing in a suit teamed with a well-tamed beard.
In more recent years, ‘The Crown’ stars Claire Foy and Matt Smith have attended, as has ‘Westworld’ star Thandie Newton, Lily James, Eddie Redmayne, Helen Mirren, Kit Harrington, Kate Winslet and more.
