One outtake in particular from the Miami-based shoot gained attention for its body-positive message. A trio of unairbrushed pics shows the model flaunting her enviable curves — cellulite, dimples, and all.
Graham’s fans were quick to pile on the compliments and to praise her beauty and confidence, but some comments fell flat.
According to an Instagram Story posted Monday night, the America’s Next Top Model judge doesn’t feel comfortable with remarks like “now this is what a real woman looks like,” because they’re designed to make other women feel inadequate.
“We are all real women,” she wrote. “I can’t stand it when I read comments that say, ‘Finally, a real woman.’ No matter your size/shape/amount of cellulite — we are in this together.”
Some commenters objected to Graham’s take.
“When people say you’re a REAL WOMAN it’s a compliment not only to you, but to all of those women who feel bad and try to reach a fabricated and impossible beauty,” one Instagram follower persisted. “I think you should be proud, because you are a symbol to all of those women.”
From the sound of it, Graham is proud — just not at the expense of other people.
