Asda launches Christmas mince pie large enough to serve six people
Move over, regular mince pies. Asda has unveiled a giant version of the Christmas classic big enough to serve six people.
At £4.50, the Extra Special Giant Mince Pie might cost more than six separate mince pies but you can't deny its tablescaping appeal. Featuring a starry design and infused with brandy and port, it's wrapped in an orange zest-infused casing to pack a punch.
The Instagrammable pud has launched within the supermarket chain's 15-product mince pie offering. This includes a selection of boozy mince pies in three flavours – Sloe Gin, Irish Cream and Spiced Rum – that are priced at £2.25 for a pack of six.
However, if you're more of a fan of the classic version of this famous festive sweet treat, then the supermarket are selling their Signature Special Indulgent Mince Pies for £2.50. They contain an all-butter pastry filled with fruit mincemeat, that includes citrus peel, Valencian orange oil, cognac brandy, Portuguese ruby port and orange liqueur.

It features an all-butter shortcrust pastry filled with Bramley apple and toffee that is topped with a caramelised pecan nut crumble for £2.50.
If you're on a budget this festive season, then the supermarket are offering customers the chance to buy two packs of Asda’s Extra Special Mince Pies for £3.50, making a saving of £1.
However they aren't the only supermarket coming up with an unmissable mince pie: Waitrose have teamed up with Heston Blumenthal on a rather unusual creation.
The Pear & Fig Mince Pies in Triple Cheese Pastry involve puff pastry laced with cheddar, emmental and Italian hard cheese filled with mincemeat that is made with lump vine fruits, figs, Bramley apple, a splash of ruby port, candied pears, nutmeg and ginger.
