Argos launches parasol Christmas trees that no cat or child will be able to destroy
Whether you have to keep an eye on your little ones or it’s the family cat who can’t resist the baubles – for some of us, a Christmas tree just isn’t practical.
But this year, Argos has decided to tackle the common festive dilemma with the launch of parasol Christmas trees.
The 6ft faux fir features branches so high they’re completely out of your child (or pet’s) clutches and the £33.33 tree will enable parents to decorate in peace.
According to the product description, the parasol tree will enable you to keep “bows and bells out of reach of curious, crawling kids or your cats’ playful paws”.
But it’s suitable for millennials too, as the high street chain highlights that the alternative tree is also perfect for city dwellers who struggle to find space for festive decor.
For those of you who fancy an even more festive feel, Argos is selling a snow-laden version for £37.50 and with five stars online – it’s certainly proven a hit with parents in recent years.
But some social media users are less than impressed with the shopping giant’s unique take on the traditional Christmas tree.
From complaints that it’s “half a tree for double the money” to jokes on the parasol fir simply being a whole new challenge for curious cats, Twitter users took to the digital platform to share their thoughts:
Well done @Argos_Online on your “modern” parasol Christmas tree 😂
Half the tree for double the money 😲

Any respectable cat could take this tree out. Come on.

This looks like a challenge all cats will accept.
They just need to project trees on the wall. Saves the mess and long cleanup.
