But, as anyone who’s ever made an emergency dash to their local salon will testify, it’s actually a lot harder than it looks.

In an Instagram clip that has now had more than 18,000 likes, Philadelphia-based YouTuber, Camila, posted a demonstration of how she’s been cutting her own fringe for years. “Press play before calling me crazy. I been cutting my own side bangs since forever ago. I love how they come out just by doing what I am showing here, so I thought I should share with you guys,” she wrote alongside the video.
Camila begins by combing off an even section of her hair to the front of her face, before spraying the sectioned area with water to wet it.

Once damp, she twists the fringe and holds it in place in front of her face before cutting off the hair just below her lip line.
She then uses a round brush to brush out her new ‘side-bangs’ before blowdrying it to reveal her effortless new side fringe.

And judging by the number of comments, it seems fringe-wearers everywhere are grateful for the easy DIY hack.
“Just did it and i look amazing! Thanks so much for sharing!” One fan of the video wrote.
Others, however, needed a bit more reassurance before they braved the scissors.
“Did anyone try it and did it work with you?” one woman asked.
“So tempting, but too risky” wrote another.
