Parents can now buy their kids an 'anti-nightmare mist' for £5 to help them sleep this Halloween and beyond
We all know how important it is that we get enough sleep - a study earlier this month found that logging fewer than six hours of snooze a night can increase risk of early death.
But it’s even more imperative that children are getting enough shut-eye in order to help them grow.
Lucky then, that parents can now get their hands on an ‘Anti Nightmare Mist’ that has been created specially to help your little one nod off.
Arriving just in time for Halloween, the £4.95 product from Cuckooland contains calming essential oils and can be sprayed around your kid’s room to fill it with a soothing lavender scent.

Lucy Russell, a child clinical psychologist, has revealed the mechanism behind the mist, explaining: “Lavender is really relaxing for the senses, so this will help.
“I would advise to start using this spray an hour before bed, to help stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, and also to initiate the release of melatonin, the hormone that induces sleep.”
According to Cuckooland’s website, “this mist is all you need to give your little ones a nightmare free sleep.
“It’s been developed specifically to rid dreams of all things nasty and scary, especially (amongst other things) ‘shadow monsters’, ‘roaring, soaring dragons’ and goblins.

“Perfect for any child, the mist can be taken and sprayed around the bedroom at night time, we would recommend doing this with your child so that they can warn the monsters away with their own hands.
“No more 3am wake up calls or having to share your bed! Your kids will be able to enjoy a night of sleep and happy thoughts.”
Such has been the popularity of the mist, that it has already sold out.
However, the manufacturers in the mean time have released a tutorial on their blog explaining how you can make your own at home.
According to The Sleep Council, “toddlers need around 12 hours of sleep a night; children aged three to six – 10-12 hours; seven-12 years olds – 10-11 hours; and teenagers – around eight to nine hours”.
