Alexa Chung announces she is launching a YouTube channel with droll video on Instagram
Alexa Chung has announced she is launching her own YouTube channel prompting an outburst of excitement from fans.
The fashion designer and model announced her newest endeavour on Instagram with a short clip of her surrounded by five brass band members playing When The Saints Go Marching In.
In the video, Chung sits on a green sofa wearing a white shirt, gingham trousers and a marching band hat, as text across the screen reads: “Alexa Chung YouTube channel launches 3rd May. Expect this…or other things.
“Probably other things.”
The 35-year-old, who holds a stern expression throughout, then says, “Is that it?”
The clip, which was shared on both Chung’s personal and professional account has so far amassed more than 220,000 views and received hundreds of comments from excited fans.
“Literally all I’ve been waiting for!” one person wrote.
Another added: “So excited, finally!”
While a third person commented: “I miss your MTV show every day. What a time.”
As little else is currently known about the YouTube channel, some followers speculated on the kind of content Chung will share, from reviews of her favourite albums to celebrity interviews.
While YouTube might seem like an unusual move for a fashion designer and model, the fact that Chung started out her career as a TV presenter suggests her channel will be a hit.
“I just know you’ll be giving us quality content,” one person commented.
Chung, who was scouted by a modelling agency at Reading Festival at the age of 16, rose to fame thanks to her awkward style of interview on Channel 4 show Popworld, before going on to be a presenter for T4 and MTV.

She quickly became recognised her trendy sartorial choices before launching her eponymous fashion label in 2017.
The new endeavour follows a similar move made by fellow fashion designer Victoria Beckham.
In November 2018, the 44-year-old launched a YouTube channel dedicated to beauty tips and styling tutorials.
Just thinking about how much I love baths and tea pots, and ambient lighting.

Beckham also announced the arrival of her channel on Instagram in a video with YouTube’s fashion and beauty director Derek Blasberg.
“Today I have special news to share,” Beckham wrote on November 24.
“I will be launching my own YouTube channel with beauty tutorials, styling tips and lots of stuff from me."
