Aldi's gin just won a medal - and we're stocking up
Aldi is renowned for its bargain prices but the German supermarket chain recently surpassed shopper’s expectations.
The budget brand won big at the International Sip Awards and took home a total of nine prizes for its tough-to-beat bottles.
The biggest triumph was its own brand Darley’s gin which costs customers $38.99 (approximately £16.30).
The tipple received the same gold medal as Archie Rose Distillers Strength Gin, a competitor bottle which retails at three times the price.
The chain also won big in several other categories at the spirit-tasting competition, as it took home a platinum award for its £12.99 Highland Black Scotch Whisky. Psst, it’s available to shop in the UK.
The chain’s Tamova Vodka which costs £15.73 also took home a gold award alongside its £16.84 Bluegrass Bourbon.
Sadly, a large majority of the award-winning booze isn’t available outside of Australia. But for those of you hoping to bag some gold stamped beverages ahead of the weekend, make sure to check out the brand’s Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin. Back in April, the spirit was voted one of the best gins in the world for the second year running.
Hands up, who else fancies a G&T?
