Aldi £14 bottle of wine scoops top prize at global competition
You needn’t spend a small fortune on impressing dinner party guests this summer, as a £13.99 bottle of wine from Aldi just scooped a top prize.
Once again, the budget supermarket chain won big at the International Wine and Spirits Competition with a grand total of 22 prestigious accolades to its name.
For those on the lookout for a lovely little bottle to crack open when the sun finally makes an appearance this month, then the Moulins de Citran Haut-Médoc 2009 is the perfect shout.
Having won a gold medal in this year’s awards, the French red wine boasts sweet flavours of black raspberry, black cherry and dark strawberry - a summer recipe for success if you ask us.
Priced at just £13.99, the Bordeaux bottle is part of Aldi’s premium online-exclusive collection of wines and is set to become a sure-fire sell-out.
If red wine doesn’t tickle your fancy, then you may be interested to learn that one of the German supermarket’s bottles of bubbly also earned a silver medal.

Perfect paired with after-dinner Panettone, the brand’s £7.99 Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore has received rave reviews online courtesy of its summer-ready apple and peach flavours.
Aldi recommends pairing the fruity number with an Al Fresco fresh fish dish.
Meanwhile, the £6.69 Côtes du Luberon Rosé is also a silver medal winner.
Designed to be sipped with garden nibbles and fresh salad, the French bottle is just another wine to add to this week’s shopping list.
