Not only is washing and drying our clothes a timely and costly process, it seems that it’s also much more damaging for the environment than we might have realised.
A 2018 study found that the average UK washing load releases nearly half a million fibres from polyester and more than 700,000 fibres from acrylic.
These fibres then find their way into the marine environment, polluting our waters. It’s a pretty sobering thought, right?
