A vegan, gluten-free Baileys now exists
You might have heard a few months ago that Baileys released a dairy-free version of its popular drink using almond milk instead of cow’s milk.
But during this trial period, it turned out that the product used beeswax, and it was decided not to be vegan friendly after all.
So after vegans demanded change, Diageo – the drinks company behind Baileys – has now removed the ingredient from its recipe.
Meaning that now, Baileys Almande liqueur now has full ‘certified vegan’ status in the US.
And to celebrate, Diageo has collaborated with coconut water brand Vita Coco to create a bunch of dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan recipes too.
“We are excited to welcome spring with Baileys Almande, which offers the same quality and delicious flavour that people love about Baileys, but now in a dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan option that we know many are thrilled to enjoy,” Alex Tomlin, SVP of Scotch Whisky & Reserve Brands at Diageo North America told The Spirits Business.
“Baileys Almande is delicious, light and easily mixed with refreshing Vita Coco coconut water, which makes it the perfect warm weather treat to enjoy responsibly,” he added.
