Every incredible rumour that's emerged from the royal wedding reception
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s big day on Saturday didn’t end after their carriage procession around Windsor.
After the lunchtime reception – which was hosted by the Queen at Windsor Castle – the newlyweds put on their evening-wear and headed to their evening celebrations.
Meghan changed into a white Stella McCartney halterneck dress while Harry suited up in a formal black-tie tux before the pair got into a silver-blue E-type Jaguar and drove to Frogmore House. It was all very James Bond.
Whittled down to just 200 of their closest friends and family, this party was always going to be where the guests let loose.
And, if rumours are to be believed, the attendees did exactly that.
While the reception was completely private, lots has been reported on what went down.
Here are the best rumours about the royal wedding reception of the decade.
The Duke of Cambridge’s Best Man speech
A wedding reception isn’t complete without an embarrassing best man speech, and the Duke of Cambridge stepped up to the plate.
A source told the Express that Prince William – who was joined on stage by Prince Harry’s best friend, Charlie van Straubenzee – “managed to strike the right balance between hilarious and solemn.”
He apparently said Meghan was “the best thing that had ever happened to Haz”.
The Duke also, understandably, paid tribute to their late mother. The source said: “He did mention their late mother, Princess Diana, and said she would have been proud of her younger son.
“He said he was proud of Harry too and welcomed Meghan as the sister he never had.”
After the emotional section, Prince William – who was joined on stage by Prince Harry’s best friend, Charlie van Straubenzee – began the teasing.
“They teased Harry about his growing bald patch, and Wills said it would become as bad as his.
“It was some bash,” they said.
Harry and Meghan’s first dance was to ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’
According to the Telegraph, the Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ was the couple’s chosen first dance song.
Instead of opting for a slow number, as is tradition, the pair boogied to the upbeat, 80s classic.
Whitney Houston was reportedly one of Princess Diana’s favourite singers, while in a 2016 interview with Lifestyle Magazine, Meghan Markle called ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ her “happy song”.
George Clooney and Amal got held up by Frogmore House security
The Metro report that George and Amal Clooney very nearly had an embarrassing run-in as they made their way into the reception.
Apparently the actor and his human right’s lawyer wife were held up by Frogmore House security, as George drove up to the gates in his silver Audi.
The paper reports George was seen in animated discussion with the officers for about 10 minutes before being let in.
However, witnesses have said it was merely a case of the staff enthusiastically admiring the actor.
Phew.

Idris Elba hit the decks
Idris Elba is man of many talents, and DJing is one of them.
The ‘Luther’ actor apparently turned music master for the reception, and played a mix of eighties pop and R&B.
After Elba’s set, the decks were taken over by Sam Totolee, who also performed at Pippa Middleton’s wedding, playing house music.
George Clooney was apparently snubbed by The Duchess of York
Rumour has it that George played barman for a chunk of the evening, mixing up drinks for the guests. But the silver fox made time for dancing and reportedly also managed to snatch dances with new bride Meghan Markle and the Duchess of Cambridge.
However, he apparently met his match in Sarah Duchess of York who the snubbed the actor, much to the amusement of the other guests.
As much as we’d like this to be true, the report by the Mirror Online has already been proved false by Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English who claims Fergie wasn’t even at the reception.
Much I would love the laugh out loud story about the Duchess of York being the only Royal to turn down a dance with George Clooney at #royalwedding reception, she really wasn’t there. But it made me snort my tea out laughing at the end of a very long week

There was a cocktail called When Harry Met Meghan
The bar was apparently ‘drinks of the world’ themed and there was a special rum and ginger-ale cocktail created called ‘When Harry Met Meghan’ – a nod to the 1989 film ‘When Harry Met Sally’.
Also on the menu were candy floss and dirty burgers. Yum.
James Corden MCd the night
He’s done his fair share of presenting gigs in the past, but we bet James Corden has never taken on a royal wedding before.
If reports are to believed, Corden can add ‘royal wedding MC’ to his CV after he compered the evening.
Guests were given slippers
Not even the royal family are immune to a kitsch wedding trend, and guests were given slippers to rest their feet after a long day of walking in heels.
Actress Troian Bellisario, and wife of Meghan’s former ‘Suits’ costar, expressed her delight at being given slippers at the reception.
She captioned a video on her Instagram: “They have slippers for us. Slippers! I’m so ready.”
Fireworks rounded off the night
Fireworks lit up the sky over Windsor as the couple and their guests celebrated inside Frogmore House.
