Wednesday's Daily Fantasy Gameweek 31 must-haves and must-nots

So who should you pick and who should you avoid? Here are our must haves and must nots for Wednesday’s Premier League fixtures…

Must Haves

Defence

Liverpool host Bournemouth this gameweek, which arguably provides the best potential for clean sheets from the Wednesday fixtures. Simon Mignolet and Nathaniel Clyne may be good picks this gameweek, with the latter even providing some offensive fantasy football potential. Liverpool may have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 5 but they have come up against some of the tougher teams in the league so we definitely think they have more chance of securing one this week. Our other must have defensive picks of the gameweek are Kyle Walker and Ben Davies. Davies isn’t usually a starter but with Danny Rose ruled out for the time being, he should be nailed on to be in the starting XI. Both Walker and Davies play on the wings and often find themselves high up the pitch, putting plenty of balls into the box. Although Walker didn’t play against Burnley, we fully expect him to regain his place at Swansea.

Midfielders

Since joining Hull City, Kamil Grosicki has been a revelation and he is yet to lose a home game! The midfielder has now registered 4 assists in his first 7 games for Hull and looks to be one of the Tigers’ few bright sparks. With a crucial fixture against Middlesbrough this gameweek, they will once again look to Grosicki. Philippe Coutinho last week showed his ability against Everton with a classy goal and an assist. Due to Sadio Mane’s injury, Liverpool will look to their Brazilian playmaker to fill the goalscoring gap and with a home fixture against Bournemouth, he may just find himself amongst the goals.

Forwards

Arsenal may be suffering a dip in form, with many calling for Wenger to leave, but Alexis Sanchez continues to be a threat and with that, a fantasy football asset. In the last 4 matches, he has bagged 3 goals and an assist, and that is all whilst Arsenal are going through their rough patch. This week, Arsenal host West Ham and the Chilean will look to continue his fine form and push for that golden boot. Finishing off our Liverpool coverage across this team of must-haves is Divock Origi. With Sadio Mane out injured, it is Origi’s time to shine. Origi has struggled to find a spot in the starting XI but when he has, he does look a threat, with 5 goals and 4 assists so far this season.

Must-nots

Defence

Artur Boruc, Steve Cook and co have managed a clean sheet in each of their previous 2 Premier League fixtures, however with a daunting trip to Anfield, another clean sheet will be a tough ask, with Klopp’s men pushing to cement their top 4 spot. Another player who will struggle to keep a clean sheet is Jose Fonte as since joining West Ham, he has been unsuccessful in keeping any clean sheets, yet he managed 7 of them when with the Saints earlier on this season! West Ham face Arsenal this week and it is very unlikely that Fonte and West Ham will keep their first clean sheet together against the Gunners.

Midfielders

Swansea haven’t won any of their last 3 Premier league matches and although Gylfi Sigurdsson has been the bright spark of the team this season, he may just struggle to have such an impact against former club Spurs on Wednesday. The Icelandic midfielder has now failed to score in 6 consecutive games and he will face a tough task against the league’s best defence. A team that have been great defensively is Crystal Palace and anyone who brought Mamadou Sakho into their teams would have been massively rewarded. However, in the middle of the park, the fantasy football returns have been few and far between (unless your name is Wilfried Zaha), with Andros Townsend only picking up a single offensive return in his last 6 and Jason Puncheon not managing a goal or assist in his last 16 games! Avoid these two at all costs!

Forwards

Finally, we have the strikers. Alvaro Negredo and Middlesbrough are really struggling to find the back of the net. The former Man City man hasn’t managed to find the back of the net since gameweek 23 and although he may have a chance against Hull, if they were to find the back of the net, we expect it could be the likes of Adama Traore so avoid the Spaniard this week. Christian Benteke has been very hit and miss this season, with blanks, penalty misses and weeks like Chelsea where he grabbed a cheeky chipped goal against International teammate Thibault Courtois and an assist to help Palace to a vital win! This week however, Palace have a tough trip to Southampton and Benteke may find it hard to break down the south coast defence who have managed 2 clean sheets in their last 4 fixtures.
